Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

Excellent shot; I've never seen these before!

Nice photo-- This is not a red baneberry-- there are two varieties of baneberries, one which is red and one which is white (as this one is) The white are called "Dolls Eyes" for reasons that you can see here.

Most unusual. Fine shot of these handsome berries, Dana, sharply contrasted against the darker background! Either white pitted olives, or eyeballs on a stick.
jocko500
wow that something to see from white to red. Can you eat them?

Sorry SheriffOrr! I spent almost 4 hours in the Garden in the Woods and after every plant, that I photographed, I knelt down and took a shot of the identifying sign, that was placed there by the New England Flower Society. Also, at the entrance to the gardens, there was a bulletin board, with a photo ID of every plant currently in bloom. This bulletin board is updated every week. Add to that the info below, that I Googled and you can to. Actaea rubra (Red baneberry, Chinaberry, Doll's Eye) is a poisonous herbaceous flowering plant native to North America in the family Ranunculaceae. After flowering green berries are produced. The fruits are ellipsoid shaped berries containing several seeds. In mid to late summer, the berries turn bright red or white (forma neglecta). The berries also have a black dot on them. Fruit is showy, poisonous, red or occasionally white berries on a slender stalk. PS: I checked your gallery and you have not posted since joining on May 1, 2003. Nor have you read the site mail that I sent you on July 8th.
