Description

Hello everyone and thanks for looking... I put this together a few days ago, but then put it on ice while doing some pictures for 'chasfh' cool new Ten Eagles character. As you can tell from my last couple of posts, I really like this bow and arrow set. Yesterday our friend Helen (BluEcho) asked me to give her some tips on making Joe Bushido's Dynamic Cloth Hair work for her. Here's a link to Helen's image, which I think is pretty good: thumb_2100097.jpg If you're interested in this hair and haven't watched it yet, go to www.youtube.com/user/joebushido and watch Joe's videos on how to make it work. He takes a while to get to the point, but he explains everything pretty well, especially where he talks about setting up the wind force. For those of you who are interested, here's how I did it: 1. On frame 1 - set up the V4 character, clothes, setting and lights. Add your face morphs, too. Then add the Dynamic Cloth Hair. Conform the hair to the V4 character. Here you can also add your wind force, but you should set the force to 0 for now. 2. On frame 5, add your body morph (especially if it's got large... attributes ^_^ ). Make this frame a key frame. 3. At frame 25 or 30, add your final pose. Make this a key frame. - Note: At this point you should step through the animation frames one at a time to make sure your pose doesn't do anything unexpected. Also, if you want to interact with the hair (use the hands to pull it out of the way, etc.) you can set that up by adding poses to the arms at around frame 15 or so. 4. At frame 40 or 45, set your wind force to 3 or 4. Make this a key frame, too. 5. In the cloth room, select the Medium hair prop and make a new simulation. Make sure to set the simulation to 50 frames. Then run your simulation. -Note: Make sure you set the hair to collide with V4 only. There's a Poser bug that makes the hair fall off if you try to collide with other stuff, like clothes. (Joe has a workaround in his readme file, but I haven't gotten it to work for me yet.) 6. Repeat the previous step for the Thick hair prop (yes, two different dynamic cloths!) This may sound like a lot of work, but not really. And if you do it a couple of times it gets simpler. Each cloth simulation took me about 10 minutes on my laptop, and goes faster if you set the display setting to wireframe during the calculations. I hope this helps you folks who are on the fence about this hair. I really like it, and I hope the idea takes off. What do you think about it? I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I'm forcing my eyes to stay open, it's bed time - lol... so I'm shocked to read about the wind force in the hair and then look at your hair - wow... I didn't even notice the hair when I first looked - lol... it's funny the things you do look at. I was looking at the bow, then the fingers then where the arrow is in line with the face... I looked at you background - amazingly, I had overlooked the hair... cool picture.

Another nice picture in this theme. Maybe less historically acurate but preferred by fantasists. Not a Poser user but sure you got good technical advice.

haha.. I do tend to babble don't I. You should've seen the first version of the tutorial, I think it was about 90 minutes long and that was without the wind part.. haha. Oh well, that's why I included a detailed readme file.. speaking of which. The solution to the conforming clothing bug is to re-parent the hair prop to V4's head. By default, it's parented to the "cap" head so you just have to go to "object--> change parent" and select "head" under "Victoria 4". Now.. the important thing to remember is that once you parent the object to V4, it can also become a collision object for the other prop. (i.e: Thick hair will collide with medium hair and vice-versa.) THIS IS NOT GOOD!!! So before you calculate, make sure that the hair props are not present under the "collision objects" drop down menu. If they are, then click on "add/remove" and de-select them from the hierarchy and you should be fine. Or.. you could just have the hair collide with V4 alone like you said.. that works too.
