Description
When first I bought this place, evergreens abounded! There were 5 in all, 3 of which blocked out light almost completely from part of the eastern side of the house. Sunrise, therefore, came and went almost unseen from my bedroom window.
Despite my hatred of tree felling - and it IS a hatred, reducing me at times to a quivering wreck, so deeply do I dislike it - I decided that the garden beneath those towering buildings of feathery-leaved frenzy, needed a friend. And I was it. So I called in an expert, one who listened to what I wanted rather than the wood price at the time, and made myself scarce for the day, or a good part of it.
Most of the wood I kept. The side garden had already been designated a wildlife sanctuary, and logs were imperitive for the health of same. With what was left, a log seat was made for butt, placed beside the soon to be built waterfall and pond, and 3 archways were built and placed as open gateways into different parts of the garden.
Over two archways is the flower in the above image. It's prolific, sweet smelling and altogether beautiful.
It's also grown over and down the entire length of the archway, blocking out the light from part of the Eastern garden - albeit a small area. I've been here before.......^=^
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

Time for a good prune! It will benefit enormously, as will the rest of that bit of garden!! A beautiful pic. Compost the prunings..my shredder has done so much work that it needed a new inside last year. It is also almost silent..an Archimedes screw system.

I am just like you hate to see trees cut down, or that have fallen down by a storm... Your yard from your description sounds very pretty, and loved.. Nice work on this.
