Description
Red-faced Macaques, also known as Snow Monkeys, roam free in the park. At the top of the mountain is a large flat space and a small building where you can buy bags of sweet potatoes and chestnuts to feed the monkeys. The only way to safely feed them is from inside the building through the wire covered windows. It was fun to feed the monkeys like this -- the humans were in a cage and the monkeys were outside! Females give birth from April through July so we were able to see some newborns.

If only they and other natives of the planet were safe from us on a broader scale perhaps there would be more of the natural world remaining. This is beautiful, Mark! There is such tenderness between mother and child. Lovely light like a halo around them. I like the two hands hanging on. The serenity of the pair is given a touch of energetic motion as is appropriate when considering monkeys. Excellent capture!

I've seen documentaries about this place and the monkeys. Between this place and the one with the hordes of rats that are fed - I'd rather go to this one.:-)

What a tender shot.. interesting that the people are in cages and animals are roaming free.. weren't animals always meant to roam free.. I wonder if animals would pay admission to watch us lol Great work on this Mark.
