Description

Decades ago the quickest way to get from San Diego to Coronado was to ride the ferry. The completion of the Bay Bridge in 1969 took much of the business away from the ferries but they continue to run to this day for taking tourists on scenic rides and as a slow restful way to cross the bay. Over the years the Coronado Ferry Landing has grown up into a destination in itself. Home to several upscale restaurants, artist galleries and nick-nack shops the landing is a wonderful place to spend a warm Sunday afternoon just sitting on the grass, enjoying the weather and watching the boats sailing up and down the bay. The day I took this shot there was a small jazz band playing soft standards just behind me - adding to the restful atmosphere. It just doesn't get much better. Enjoy.

I'd take the ferry every time. A slow leisurely boat trip is worth 10 car rides over a bridge. The day you had sounds idyllic! Bay, boats, grass and to cap it all, a jazz band playing old classics! Fabulous image. ^=^
