Description

The most common animal seen in the Canadian Rockies was Mountain Goats or Bighorn Sheep. This one was sitting on the edge of a cliff that had to have a 300 foot drop into the Sunwapta Valley and the Athabasca River. This young one had no problem, with me walking to within 8 feet to take this shot – don’t know if an older adult would have let me get that close. That does it for Jasper National Park and on to Banff National Park. Taken with a film camera (July & August 1988) and recently scanned. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

He's truly magnificent. Gazing over a sight he knows only as "home." Marvelous shot.

That's a nice one Dana, but it is a Bighorn Sheep. Mountain goats are a different animal.

Great capture of the reclining goat; it does look rather young, and kudos for getting so close to it for the shot, Dana!
