Description

TONIGHT PART TWO delaorden_ojeda VIDEO CLIC HERE Montreal Underground System Montreal's Underground City is the set of interconnected complexes (both above and below ground) in and around Downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is also known as the indoor city, and is the largest underground complex in the world. Not all portions of the indoor city are underground. The connections are considered tunnels architecturally and technically, but have conditioned air and good lighting as any building's liveable space does. Many tunnels are large enough to have shops on both sides of the passage. With over 32 km (20 mi) of tunnels spread over more than 12 km2 (4.6 sq mi), connected areas include shopping malls, apartment buildings, hotels, condominiums, banks, offices, museums, universities, seven metro stations, two commuter train stations, a regional bus terminal and the Bell Centre amphitheatre and arena. There are more than 120 exterior access points to the underground city. Each access point is an entry point to one of 60 residential or commercial complexes comprising 3.6 km2 (1.4 sq mi) of floor space, including 80% of all office space and 35% of all commercial space in downtown Montreal. In winter, some 500,000 people use the underground city every day. Because of its Underground City, Montreal is often referred to as the "Double-Decker City" or "Two Cities in One". Thanks Magik

In 1961 I worked there at the Avis rent a car in a beautiful building I would meet all kinds of people from all over the world One day a man came by with all kinds of photography equipment he asked if he could take my picture for a advertisment that would be up on a bill board in an airport I belive it was switzerland (it was along time ago) well i went to my boss becuase it was not my call and of course I was paid for it and people talked about it for years when they would come in from all over to rent a car they would say hey! your the girl on the billboard lol love the underground in montreal when it is cold, snowing or a storm you could get all your shopping down after work and go down the stairs get on the subway and your home! yipppe--I miss this also: great photo of great memories:

Some of the folks from the warmer regions of the USA may not fully understand what a blessing our Montreal under ground is in the winter months when the temperature out doors reaches 23 to 30 degrees below zero. Superb capture of the place Real! George

It's so clean! So shiny! So clean? Where are the rats? This is a marvelous montage and a wonderful glimpse into life as it occurs outside of Chicago. I love the golden colors in the light, and the splashes of other colors dancing around. This is super! Great information as well, it makes me feel as if I have traveled a bit and experienced this for myself.

My reaction was the same as Daver's. It looks so clean! It also looks very empty. You must have taken these a low occupancy time of day. I like seeing the artwork. When I visited my sister in New York City, I spent some time searching out the art on the subway. It was fun and I barely scratched the surface. Excellent images!
