Description

The possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1. Thanks for all of the comments on my last image. I was very happy with it and appreciate the feedback.

I guess I should have mentioned, this is a single pass render in Carrara. One layer. I tweaked it very slightly in Photoshop (colour correction, burning blur etc). But it's pretty close to the carrara render.

Another phenomenal image, and right on the heels of yesterday's masterpiece. I'm loving this series.

Nice; So, should there be more shadow on the side of the asteroids opposite your sun? Just curious as I really like the detail on the asteroids. Thanks

Absolutely! They would probably be in total darkness since the main light is dead centre of the frame. There is a lot of artistic licence here. Maybe there's another planet behind the camera, or a planet reflecting, or maybe off the cloud itself.

Beautiful treatment of light. Thank you for all the explanations you give. I especially love the hot gases from landfills within the asteroid belt ... or is it a planet exploded? Thank you for distracting us with your creations.

That rocks! Um, I mean great scene! I think the lighting from behind is the other 3,719 ships exploding as they try to transit the asteroid field....
