Description

Have not been around much this last week for I've been prepping the property and pouring 5 yards of concrete. Am only one man after all. :) Should now next week when the other foot shall have surgery, so am trying to get 2 weeks worth of work done in one. I also wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful support on the last image; thumb_2101589.jpg

"Along those lines"

It is now the most commented image in the gallery. The perspective from that image was taken over my left shoulder and this one is looking over the right shoulder. The lines in the sandstone are not as nice as last post, but the subtle variations in color shades throughout the landscape combined with that contrasting sky is eye candy to me. ;) In the background just behind the two teepees is the formation from the first cottonwood cove post. thumb_2097246.jpg

"South coyote buttes, Cottonwood Cove"

In the distant background is the West bench and on the right edge is a well known formation called "Steamboat rock". Both of these are within the Paria wilderness boundary. Thanks for trekking along. Whether your a viewer, commented, rater, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you

This is a gorgeous feast for the eyes, and real proof that I have to catching up to do in your gallery! That's always a fun thing. I love the earth tones in this, the manner in which everything looks vaguely abstract, as if Nature was just playing around...there are so many shapes in the rocks: smooth, layered bits, lumpy, almost organic shapes...odd balancing shapes...everything. I suspect this place is a geologist's dream, and it's quite fascinating just to look at on my monitor screen...Even better: it has such a dramatic sky! This is all-around-fantastic. Great stuff!

You always come up with great titles and wonderful images. Looking at this image, what is most surprising to me is how can that bigger rock maintain its balance without falling when it's supported by even smaller rocks atop a huge rock, quite puzzling. Thank you for sharing your images, the information is very much appreciated.

Thanks for the thought Richard. It's actually a friend that I've been caring for. The left foot was first and have the right foot to go yet.

How very stunning. The long view pulls me along the rock and sand and breaks with a great horizon.

What is interesting is to compare a real desert with what we do in Vue. The new strata filter in Vue 8.5 can make deserts of this type but what is missing is the erosion!

This is a fascinating photo and of course landscape. I love how the clouds are going. It's of you can see them moving to the end of the photo. I would love to make a painting of this capture, it's so inspiring with the textures and this horizon, plus the rocks. I wish you a speed recovery with your right foot. Hope things are going right too ;-)

Sandstone, one of my favourite building materials, even if it is just to look at - absolutely fascinating and natural to the eye, you can call yourself lucky, to live in such beautiful surrounds... imagine going underground to dig an abode, I am dreaming ! BB
