Description

Not far from my home there is some huge development building construction going on. Here there was a bycicle factory twenty years ago. When it closed the powers-that-be let the area stay immobile until the Industrialists Union and the University started to build. For some years there was a mixture of new buildings and old ones as well as impoverished areas full of trash and derelict people, while the administration decided whether this had to become the new center of the town, and whether the Trade Fair was to be moved from here or not. It looks that the price of the areas still to be built is rising, after years of slumping. Thus they started to build very fast. I took this shot some weeks ago almost at twilight. Thanks for your kind comments.

Looks like they are wasting no time! On another note. There is a "war ofthe Worlds" feel to the image. So many cranes give the sci fi look of the Martians invading! :)

This reminds me so much of my Berlin trip, years ago - I had actually counted 48 (!) cranes - way to go, Sandra...they call this progress for the umpteenth time ! love the eeriness in red - of this site, BB

Humanity juxtaposed against the machine, how frequent. Wonderful work, excellent use of color to set a mood.

As the United States plunges into a depression that we're not calling a depression, it's nice to see that other parts of the world are actually able to do things...well...constructively. As for this shot, it's a marvelous glimpse into what could be another world just as easily as it could be this one. The colors are stunning, adding an almost dream-like quality to the scene...realistic dreaminess is something I really enjoy and it's displayed beautifully here. How nice! Great colors! There's a bit of postwork that gives this a real organic look as well. Great work.

...si continua a costruire ovunque; mi auguro che prima o poi mi spuntino delle ali sulla schiena così non avrò più il problema di starmene delle giornate intere sempre in coda sulle nostre strade. E' una bellissima foto, però mi rende triste. :)gea
