This reminds me also of those 'one minute booth-pix', which you can find in Shopping Centres/Malls @ '4 for $2.-' and as one does - one pulls always faces, just for fun or for a new passport... proud father - no doubt - but a bad hairday, BB

Wonderful and vibrant portraits, even more so since they're in black and white and rely on mood and subject to convey at least an emotional sense of color. I love her expressions and lively poses...and those springy coils are quite nice, but I've noticed that the owners of those springy sorts of coils are never satisfied with them...ah, such is life! Marvelous work.

I would have to pay about $200 to get my hair to look like that! LOL! We used to get something called a "spiral perm" in order to get those curls. Why is it that everyone hates their own hair? Your daughter is lovely, and this is a wonderful series of images of her!

I've had springy curls all my life - they're so easy (and I'm male!!!!) Tell Sonya to relax and enjoy them :o) Excellent photographs.

Forgive me for skipping around, I can never comment on all the images I miss over a long time, so I have to pick by instinct & leave out other images that are just as fine. But I couldn't leave this comment-less because it's a series of portraits, and I love them. Love them because of the totally spontaneous & unposed quality to the captures; and because of the wonderful light & hue in all of them. You have a kind of amber-yellow gray here, maybe with a touch of green; it's so full of life; and it plays miracles with Sonya's hair. Wonderful light, I just can't tell you enough how well you handle light & shade like this. The details sing, and the background is one of your intense off-white backgrounds that's the perfect foil for the intense activity of Sonya's very being. I love the shadows too, which you allow to intrude in the subtlest ways. But above all, the love for your subject and her wonderful complex moods & expressions. This is the kind of portraiture I hope to do one day. It takes a special eye & connection...Beautiful work, and makes one hope you'll never stop doing portraits...you do them splendidly.
