Description

This morning at 4.35 a big earthquake hit Christchurch, our second biggest city. No known dead so far, but lots of injuries, cuts, bashes, broken bones, a few serious. Search and Rescue are picking through the ruins of the city which is basically trashed, everybody evacuated from the Central districts. Water, electricity, sewerage, cellphones, roads, rail, Port Lyttleton, airport, are all in trouble. Countryside badly hit for many kilometres around. Roads broken. Everything thrown around. I'm too far North to have felt it, but I know people in the area. A major disaster for a small country like this. Luckily we kept some of our Defence Forces at home, and they are on their way. Not feeling exactly chirpy today. None of us. It's strange; it's so quiet, as though everybody's holding their breath, or inside watching the news.

I'm glad you are ok, and wish the best for everyone. Things and even homes can be replaced but people cant, so it is wonderful news to hear so far there were no fatalities. This image is amazing

We are not really nothing compared to the wrath of the Earth. Was this city built near a fault line? Sometimes the historical ignorance, the greed of some people of all circles (developers, politicians, crooks) can build on areas at risk ... so goes this bad world, the dark side of man. We can only pity the victims ... a very sad news my friend! The fractal fits well to the event!

What a fitting image to the quake. Glad to hear you're ok. And I hope there won't be fatalities. Buildings can be re-build. People can't be. Corrie

Yes, this should literally be a shock for everyone in New Zealand. I saw it on the news. Have you already been in touch with your friends who live there? What I heard was that the earthquake lasted long. This fractal is applied, refined and has a beautiful style. We think of you.
