Description
Last week I spent several days in Corleone. Here lives and teaches art at the middle school my younger sister. Corleone is a small town near Palermo, sorrowfully famous for having given birth to some Mafia leaders among the cruellest in the history of Sicily!
But most of the population is not mafia and the City Council does everything to promote a culture of peace and human rights through cultural and educational initiatives, research, cooperation, information, all aimed at peaceful co-existence. Even young people make their voices heard by participating and collaborating effectively in the life of the country.
Corleone has very ancient origins dating back to the first phase of the Neolithic in the sixth millennium BC. Its territory presents an environment of extraordinary natural, scenic and archaeological.

Superb shot and view! Speaking about mafia, now every nation has its own mafia, and some are worse than Italian ones, especially in some Eastern European countries... 20 years ago they were calling themselves communists, now they are "honorable businessmen"...

Fabulous capture Maria! Ah! The mafia connection, yes, in many of our movies this is a big thing...people are fascinated with the mafia, tho I suspect that they would not be were the mafia to notice them:-) Mafia thrives in New York, much less in Washington state (most people don't know its there). I dated a cop for awhile and actually got to go on a stakeout for one of the local mob bosses there. A very interesting writing about Corleone, I'm glad the youth are raising their voices for their country. Its wonderful that you point out that the city promotes peace, its too bad that other countries don't do the same. Thank you so much for liking my story and the wonderful comment you left.
