Description

Poor Louly! Instead of making her less confused, here I am adding more characters and dates to the Bug Comic. But I promise I will do three more "character sheets" after this one, one of Bryan's family, one of Rain's family, and one of the inhabitants of Newton, population 1,200. (I promise I won't list everyone in Newton;) This is mostly for my own benefit--I need to keep dates straight in my own head, since "dead people", as Bryan would think of them, play a part in the story, even if it's just as a brief mention. So here you see Gen Nyelah "Nike" Elle, the hero of The Battles of Seattle, Vancouver, and Coeur d'Alene. (Seattle didn't go all that well, Vancouver was defended, Coeur d'Alene(the main North American Azali base) was cleaned out completely, though they still have "bugs" around the edge of the crater. Avila, who sadly shares his name with a real person (I'm hoping not to get in trouble here) was the first aid kit/copilot for 22-301, and the only Mer to fly an Azali fighter through the supports of the Columbia Crossing suspension bridge--the metal mesh made a good protection against energy weapons, though the bridge did need minor repairs afterward. Avila also founded the Avila law library much afterward, which was later incorporated into the University. 22-301 gets a panel later, so I won't bother you with him now. He did ask what Avila's name was when Avila was first delivered to his fighter, and when Avila answered that 22-301 "could put his name where the sun didn't shine", 22-301 said "OK, Sunshine," and occasionally called him that ever afterward. James Kim is Vanessa and Priscilla's father, he died suddenly at his desk of an undiagnosed heart abnormality. Mrs. Kim still misses him, though she does quietly see Bryan's father. Finally, there is Tobias Smith. He was Bryan's first real love (not in a magazine or on TV); they were both lifeguards the summer of 2398 at the Ellesburg Public Pool (the first real job Bryan was allowed to have, too). Bryan still has that shirt.

Oh my, I'm totally lost! :) I love the concept, but I guess I don't know enough of the story to connect the dotted lines. And my goodness, but don't they all die young...except for the nonagenarian Avila, that is. Wonderful character portraits!

It's hard to give puppy dog eyes with the eyes of a goat, so sorry! :D Although the pilot is rather lovely... :)

Great job... of confusing me even more lol But you said it yourself lol Nice job though on that panel and great looking characters. My favourite is James Kim I think. And it's true they all die young, except for Avila who died at 101.

Krysania and gypsyangel made me laugh so much! But this is just for future reference--as Bryan would say about the 23rd century peope , "Those people are all dead." He's not a big history buff, and he doesn't carry any baggage about Aer and doesn't give the Azali any thought either.

I can't decide who I like more - Jorge or Tobias. I'm leaning towards Tobias right now. I'll wait to see how it plays out.

Yeah, I need to work on some of these as well to keep facts straight in my head, dates and whatnot. Plus they're interesting to do too! Hmmm....I'm wondering if the cost of living has dropped to a human level in Vancouver by the time this story takes place.

Wow that was fast!! And much needed too! This is really a well thought out adventure. Naturally I'm saving my adoration for Professor Shinka. I think he has the most character of all of them!

Nice work on this Lynn, and I see you did indeed confuse Louise a bit more. You put a lot of thought into this one and it shows

You have definitely put LOADS of thought into this...Wow... Interesting to see some of the history! I can't keep track of our own history (never my favorite subject I'm afraid), but if it was done like this I might have retained some! Of course if our forefathers looked like these guys, I might have remembered quite well! LOL! :o)

Nice 'family album'... Poor bryan - to loose his first real love by leukemia, that's hard, especially if they are so young... eventually you could tell us some moments of their short time having together?

so, so far behind on comments! i think what i enjoy so much about these portraits is the feeling that there's more to each image. a whole scene around each character that makes me feel how much we're getting a small piece of a larger story. it's also fun to see such a variety of your work at once. i think the Tobias Smith one works best here.
