A well balanced composition of this old fossil and general set-up, with just a hint of colour... It almost takes on the shape of a warriors helmet, don't you think Nikolay ? BB

as I study photography more & more and learn its unique language (unique from drawing or painting), I come to appreciate your work more & more. I think one of the things you do so very well is to 'solo' an object and make its intelligence, its utter self-containment come forward to us. You do it partly by capturing/giving such detail within its boundaries that it has a precise life & presence all its own. This ammonite shell (or fossil---forgive if I don't know the exact word) feels like a full intelligent being, it has Presence, there's no other word. I've come to realize you find inner Presence in things, any thing, any thing, you find Presence in them: individual, whole utterly intricate Presence. And so, for you, a single object can be a speaking living 'being'. This ammonite speaks in your hands; and you've silhouetted it against a single piece of wood---both fossil and wood being given to us in very neutral grayish tones, so that nothing interferes with their utter intelligent presence. And the two are all you give us, the third element (remember how I felt you often had 3's in your work?) being the pure black. You make 'things' Present. You make them intelligent. You make them speak. The more I photograph the more I appreciate your language. Beautiful piece, simple but very complex; and eloquent (from its original meaning, "to locute," to speak). I never cease to be taken in on a wave of revelation when I come to your gallery...

Ooooo, very nice. Minimalist once again. I visit your gallery and vow to borrow some of your technique...but I just don't see in the same detail you do:)
