Description

The Giant Polypore burst forth from stumps everywhere at this time of year. Here is a side and top view. It says in my little book - slow cooked young brackets are edible, but can cause gastric upset in some people. We won't be trying this one then!

Oh go on Kevin....hehe... just a little taste...with a sizzle of bacon? Gosh it really is something isn't it? A massive chunky delectable beauty. I have noticed that our walks amongst the woods have been peppered with sighting of all sorts of fungi this summer - mainly small nondescript efforts. I remember mushroom picking a few years ago - the resulting bounty was yellow staining mushrooms and we were fortunate enough to be told not to eat them by someone with more knowledge than I..

Wow, these are wonderful! I don't think I'd try eating them, though. If anyone is going to have gastric upset it will be me!

SPLENDID colors; Good angles for these shots. I am a null for searching fungi. For me, they are part of Nature. EXCELLENT presentation.
