Description
I had a visit to the falconry centre today. This is a bird I have never seen in the wild, though it is on the increase I'm told. It has such piercing eyes and is a ferocious predator. Like a very large sparrowhawk that can kill prey upto the size of hares and birds upto crows and pheasants.

Thankyou Kevin. I've never seen a Goshawk either until now. Another of Nature's miracles. You have the caught the very essence of a predator- the eye, razor-like beak and great camouflage. It must have been a great day. Hope you have more to show us.

Sparrowhawks regularly take wood doves from my area, even taking 3 last year from the trees overhanging my garden, bringing one down a metre from where I was sitting. I don't know who was more surprised, him or me! Fabulous image. A real beauty! ^=^
