Description

What says it better than a day at the boardwalk? All the rides, fun and sun, then the end of the day. And, the end of summer. This is the full size version of a foto I posted with a short story I wrote.

Seeing this picture brings these lyrics to mind... Say, hey little girl take me by the hand Walk with me down this boardwalk one last time again We see those pretty pier lights, hear those carnival sounds We’re gonna stop right at the top tonight, when the ferris wheel goes ‘round... -Will-

This is fantastic. I like the whole thing, but what really grabs me is that sort of acid-trip nearly-ultraviolet blue from the flashing lights. The camera setting and the setting sun really highlights that in a vibrant and really energetic way. I love the effect, and it's all just colors! Cool! Yeah, this is a sweet shot. You've really nailed that summer boardwalk feel, and for some reason, this reminds me of Ray Bradbury's writing: Dandelion Wine a bit, and maybe even Something Wicked This Way Comes but maybe it's just because so much of that novel deals with the dark side of a carnival. At any rate, you have captured a kind of Bradburyian vibe: mellow, soft, gentle-natured, and yeah...hazy in the way that summer nights get that haze (it always smells a bit like barbecue smoke and popcorn and a hint of fresh watermelon. THAT is a good thing.)
