Description
Jorman was cold as he stood in place trying to keep warm on such a biter cold night. He had ended up with guard duty on such a cold night because of a roll of the dice that he had played against another guardsman who he suspected cheated. Jorman was sure the dice was loaded and made a mental note to himself that he would check the dice that his fellow guardsman used. A wind blew chilling him through his armor and to his flesh. A warm spice ale would warm him up Jorman thought to himself. After he and Marick were relieved he would make his way to The Red Rogue Inn, there they would still be open serving customers and guardsman alike. Perhaps Matilda would be on tonight, she knew how to warm him up on such a cold night he smiled to himself. A snarl from somewhere in the darkness startled him from his thoughts as he and Marik looked at each other. "whos there" Marik spoke first readying his halbred. Peering into the darkness Jorman could see no one on the quiet deserted streets. A stillness was in the air as the guardsmen waited. Jorman began to unsheath his sword as his eyes darted to each shadow trying to find the source of the noise. Suddenly and without warning it stepped out of the shadows. It stood upright like a man, taller than he and Marik. Massive muscle was pronounced on its body as layered hair tried to cover it. Its face was wolflike with eyes that shined like daggers caught in the light of the moon. A large snouth with a mouth was the most prominent thing on the beastlike creature as it smiled displaying rows of sharp teeth. Jorman stood fixed in place and could swear that the beast like creature smiled at him knowing his awe and fear of it. Marik acted on impulse and tried to swing his halbred but the beast was faster, inhumanely faster catching the halbred in one paw. With the other paw the wolflike creature swung ripping poor Mariks face in a shower of gore and flesh. Jorman thought of calling out for reinforcements but he could not find his voice as stark terror began to settle in. The beast turn to Jorman almost knowing what Jorman wanted to do but couldnt. Jorman raised his sword to defend himself and felt the slash of claws on his exposed neck and face. Dropping his sword, Jorman tried to call out but could only hear gurgling sounds.. As the coming darkness began to drag Jorman down his last thoughts were, he should of checked the dice before he rolled them..
