Founded by the blessed Brother André in 1904, Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount-Royal has become the world's greatest shrine dedicated to the saint for whom it is named.
Attracting over two million pilgrims and visitors every year, this highly spiritual place stands as a haven of peace in the heart of the city. An international sanctuary, the Oratory opens its doors to visitors from all walks of life; all are welcomed with respect to their culture and development.
The sanctuary is a centre for the Christian faith as expressed in the diverse forms of prayer in the Church, with a particular emphasis on devotion to Saint Joseph. The Oratory is a silent place for prayer and peace that fosters openness to the mystery of God.
