Description
After a peaceful crossing of the Inland Sea we booked a train ride on the Yosan Line. The train travels along the East coast of Shikoku from Takamatsu in the Northwest to Matsuyama in the Southwest. Shikoku (four provinces) is the smallest and least populous of the four main islands of Japan. The current name refers to the four former provinces which made up the island: Awa, Tosa, Sanuki, and Iyo. Being mainly agricultural we saw many timeless scenes like this on our journey across the island.

Are you sure the Yosan Line wasn't really a time machine? This looks like a classic Japanese painting. Beautiful!

Beautiful capture! Wonderful lines of the fields, the mountains, and the fence in the foreground. I love that the rails are slightly irregular. They seem almost to be talking. This scene brought to my mind paintings of workers in the fields, like those of John Constable. As one who has never worked on a farm, it looks so idyllic. My back, shoulders, and knees wouldn't last an hour. Stunning composition, color, and detail! I like the guy staring in your direction. He seems to connect the viewer to his world. Excellent shot!
