Description
A week ago my husband, Kallikru, and I took the tour to the top of Mauna Kea,13,800 feet above sea level. The air is a bit thin there, with only about 40% of the oxygen normally available to us at lower elevations. It affects different people differently. When my husband told me I was listing about 10 degrees off the vertical, I had already decided the air was a bit too meagre for me. I had a hell of a buzz going. I spent the rest of the tour in the bus, huddling in my parka against the cold.
Before the bus left the summit, Kalli offered to take my camera and make a few shots for me. This picture is a collaboration --he took the picture, but I worked on the RAW image to bring out its beauty.

Well it is a wonderful collaboration. I love the shadow on the mountain and those clouds are beautiful. Your description of yourself in the thin air made me chuckle.

I think you would go a long way to better this wonderful image Lynn. Poor little soul sitting in the bus...but if you hadn't maybe we would not be seeing this now, so thankyou:-)

Poor Thing. I'm surprise the tour drivers didn't offer you any oxygen up there. The best thing for any symptoms of altitude sickness is to get back to lower elevation. But you stuck it out.....hats off to you. Your hubby did a great job. It can't get any better than this. Aloha

Yes, the air does get quite thin up there. Especially, in the winter months. This is a beautiful shot. Lots of "atmosphere"....Aloha

What a stunning view---the top of the world!! And I"m always just awed by the fact this is in Hawaii--couldn't be more opposite of what you expect to find there. I'm glad you stuck it out, you shared a wonderful scene!!
