Description

In the images I posted yesterday there was a river going its own way pretty much as nature intended, albeit with a few dams here and there. This is a body of water that is a bit more constricted. Lakes of Katy, a private water sports community completed in 2005 and located 30 miles west of Houston, Texas. It is a private gated community, with 71 residences, 4 interconnected lakes, and a lot of water sports. It is not really my cup of tea, which is just as well as it is just a tad above my price range. I found some interesting information on their homepage, including a link to a page on identifying water weeds, and a description of the chemicals they add to the water to get it the right clarity and color, and for weed control. It is important to get the water hard enough to appear clear, but not so hard as to cause stains and deposits to be left on boats and equipment. They have also added 80 sterile Grass Carp for weed control. The residents are asked please; do not try to catch the Grass Carp, do not play with the Grass Carp, and do not feed the Grass Carp.
