Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

I remember this day! Duh...I proxy posted this for you, so all you have to do is read the comment and you'll see that I remember this day. Anyway...I love the fact that I'm as surprised by what's been proxy posted for you as I'd be if you'd chosen something (and not mentioned what it is until it's posted.) I tried a similar shot, but my camera settings were arguing with me and so the water cascading down came out as an unappealing blur. Oh well...I'm glad you got this shot and sent it to me in your packet of "to post" photos. I love the colors and the way the glass block fountain thingie looks almost like a cutout against the right side of the picture! Funny how the camera captures light/shadow gradients like that. Fantastic details and everything looks so solid and so TALL! This is a great shot.

That's a fountain? Mmm! This is a super photo, but the design of that object is 'iffy'!

this has an intriguing flat appearance and yet seems to keep the depth. Really awesome.

There's that echo-shape thing again! All the little squares, like the screen door and flaking paint and typewritten text. Windows and bricks and regular, repeated patterns. I LOVE it that the buildings you captured behind the fountain are all of a certain age. You've made me think of going back and pulling one of the shots I got of this fountain ... a totally different vibe from this ... it's amazing to me how we see the same thing and yet see it so differently! I like this VERY much!

It took a few moments looking at this to process what I was seeing. My first impression was of an office building made of ice, incongruent with the surroundings. The pov is perfect, and helped to draw me into the illusion. Excellent capture, Corey, and here's hoping that by the time you read this you're already home, comfortable and healing nicely. Dzanetos

stunning image!!

Honestly, since I've never seen nor heard of this fountain, I originally thought you had photoshopped it into the image, it hardly looks real. It's rare to get fooled like this, with such a genuinely surreal photo. Hats off to you.
