I first discovered photography at the age of 8or 9 when i was given an old box brownie and after a couple of years I progressed to a Kodak folding camera I remember it took a size 127 film.
My father built me a dark room in the loft and I spent many hours learning about processing and printing my films, both black and white and colour. when marrige and family came along time for the processing side of photography had to take a back seat.  After 50 years working we retired to Chard in Somerset southwest England (we think it could be the best part of the world). About 3 years ago we got into digital photography , recently my son Ian who has a site on renderosity (iambrose) talked me into joining, I am so glad he did as it's so nice to read the comments and see how other people view your pictures.ÂÂ

Nice shot ... it's some years old though ... the hole on the right was dug by my wife, to find the Meta Sudans fountain destroyed by the fire of 64 AD, 6 meters down. The hole has been filled in since, and the excavations are still going on on the hillside of the Palatine, those trees on the right have been chopped down ...

Wonderful to see something so old and of ancient history. It reminds me of Arc de Triomphe in Paris for Napoleon. We did see that one in 2001.
