Description

... with apologies to C.S. Lewis for stealing his title. This is the Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millenium Park. I was inspired to go back and look through my Chicago images for this after Chip proxy-posted a picture for Corey of the same fountain. Corey's pov was different from mine ... the tower with the face would have been behind him as he took the photograph. If we'd both been standing there at the same time, he'd be in my image. Each tower is about 50 feet tall and is made of glass blocks. The internal structure is visible under certain conditions ... you can see the scaffolding-like framework in the near tower. For those of you who would like more information about this fountain, click HERE to read the Wiki. It's quite fascinating ... SO much more than just a rectangular brick tower!

Nice shot ... I was there in summer and it was wonderful to see kids playing in the water, with jets of water sprouting from the mouth of the faces ...

First of all, fascinating subject...secondly, I can tell you had a lot of fun postworking this presentation. The use of selective coloring is A-1. Last, but not least, your use of perspective is dramatic considering both towers are the same size. REALLY niceeeeeeeeeee.

Wonderful shot and information; I didn't realize they were glass bricks (I guess if I'd stopped to think about it I would have known-DOH!) Really lovely work!

That's an amazing structure! I didn't even notice the internal framework until you mentioned they were made of glass blocks! So much for being observant! LOL! Wonderful photo of these really neat towers!

A beautifully constructed and composed image, Dear Tara! I do admire the colours and the rich texture of such a fine artpiece! I would never think this is made from glass... such a magnificent structure! I really like the POV, absolutely incredible!

I found this very interesting, then I read Bill's comment. Now I find it stunning, when you said both towers are 50 feet tall I assumed the other was out of shot. Now I know, it's brilliant...great pov and depth perception.Marvelous stuff.

This is marvelous! I love these fountains. I was there in 2005 and took some shots, which are on film, but nothing as wonderful as this. I love your work. You are so inventive with how to capture structures in fresh and distinctive ways. Your POV and selective coloring are suberb! Excellent image!
