Description

This photo was taken at the Morikami Japanese gardens, west of Delray Beach, Florida, taken with my old Minolta. I have used orchid as a title but cannot actually remember what it was. Hope you enjoy it and zoom works well. Thanks to all those that helped to ID this flower. It was about 5 inches in diameter and that is why I couldn't decide. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Small leaf rhododendron or possibly an azalea...difficult to tell for sure...but most likely rhododentron! One way or the other, a very attractive image.

It seems to me a type of magnolia, but from the leaves. Very beautiful flower and photo !

Yes, the pattern on the petals tells me likely rhododendron, but I'm in the group that can't ever for the life of me (no matter how many times Tara gives me the lesson!) remember how you tell the difference between them and azaleas. I do know we have LOTS of them in the Northwest, though! Lovely shot!

Looks more like an azalea to me. In either case, a lovely capture!

OK, I'm gonna be the weird one here (what else is new) and mention that this flower is the spitting image of a monster-villain from the Ralph Bakshi Spiderman series!

The petals suggest an orchid, but not the pistil, in this nice capture, Dana. Good contrast against the dark background in this shot.
