Description

Over the years in my professional capacity as an environmental scientist, I have photographed more than a thousand floral images during biological assessment projects. Over the last several years, I have developed a technique in Ultra Fractal for rendering artwork using these images. The technique involves using the UF Image interpolation mapping utility to interpolate several images of various plant species, to form composite renderings. The composite images thus created are mapped onto a sphere. At the time I created these images, I was giving a series of technical presentations on the fractal basis of natural ecosystems. These talks intended clearly to demonstrate the fractal nature of living ecosystems. So although the images are not created from fractal algorithms, the result is nevertheless a fractal rendering. A friend at Renderosity has seen several these in the past and has suggested that I show examples in my Gallery. The image presented today is one in a series I will present in the future. Created in Ultra Fractal

This is magnificent work!! Your technical skills with the UF program astound me. Your mention of natural processes following fractal rules fits something i mentioned to Mike a few days ago. He had a wonderful photograph of a large spider on a web, i mentioned that i remember reading somewhere recently that spider webs tend to follow some of the fractal formulas. i really dont remember any of the details on the article but wonder if you have heard of this as well?
