Description

Pride of the RAF. Actually quite useless if you weren't the pilot or co-pilot, because they were the ones with the fast-exit seats. People actually got killed because of this lack of forethought. Also, so far as I know, they only fought in one war and that didn't last that long. Interesting that the camouflage is on both top and bottom. Something to do with the fact that they were often seen on their sides, thus confusing the viewer who wouldn't know which way up they were! Good for airshows, deafen people.

Brings back memories of that James Bond film about the Vulcan that was stolen with an atomic bomb and sunk off Bermuda or some such place.

They also looked great in the white anti flash scheme. Another excellent render.

I was always impressed with that bird. I have memory of one at Farnborough doing a one engine fly by, using a single hercules power plant ... the year the harrier was first introduced to the public, and to foreign powers for british profit. also my then father in law was responsable for a vulcan landing by stonehenge. at least it missed the road, burrows & stones. looong time ago & pleasant memories. Thanks for the short trip down memory lane. :-)

Yep, they only fought in one war.. The Falklands War.. But still hold the world record for the longest and furthest bombing mission.. The Black Buck Raids.. My second Fave aircraft, there one still flying in private hands.. Still not seen her fly yet.. They are capable of flying on one engine, pulling almost vertical climbs and that is when the engines make their trademark 'howl'.. She still does this to finish displays at airshows... Cool work... Rob
