Description

You may have read the book or watched the movie Bridges Of Madison County, this bridge wasn't featured in the movie I will show those later, these bridges 6 all together were the draw for last weeks road trip. The Imes Bridge is the first one I came to just out side of St. Charles Iowa as they call it the gateway to the bridges. No longer used but for ones like me that enjoy getting to touch see and through our imagination be apart of history. The remaining 5 bridges are in and around Winterset Iowa a gorgeous town with very friendly people I will go back to visit the Bridges of Madison County and Winterset Iowa, I thing my love affair with these bridges has just begun. The oldest of the remaining covered bridge built in 1870, the Imes is 81 feet in length. It was originally located over the Middle River west of Patterson Iowa. In 1887 it was moved over Clinton Creek southwest of Hanley. The Imes Bridge was moved again in 1977 to its present location over a natural ravine in a small park just east of St. Charles and renovated in 1997 at a cost of $31,807.

These have a wonderful sound quality when you are inside them. Nice shot! My fav covered bridge (still in use when I was last there a few years ago) is the bridge over the Eel River in North Manchester, Indiana near Huntington. There is a green area and trail below it along the river.
