Description
Bridge number two the Cutler-Donahue Covered Bridge. Designed and built by Eli Cox. Length: 79 feet Weight: 40 ton. Covered timber superstructure, towne lattice truss with overlay queen post frame, fastened with round wooden pins and iron bolts.
Originally located 18 miles N.E. of Winterset, near Bevington Iowa, over North River. Moved to Winterset City Park in 1970. A beautiful setting for this historical jewel.
Clair Rogers, Macksburg, IA, house mover, commissioned to move bridge before first covered bridge festival. Clair gave his time to rebuild west one-third of structure and re-roof it. Renovated in 1997 for $35,538.
Covered bridges often named for nearby residents the Cutler and Donahoe families each claimed "naming rights", thus the bridge's hyphenated name.

What a beautiful covered bridge and what a wonderful shot of it. I love covered bridges and Oregon currently has 50 of them, but we keep losing them. I've enjoyed browsing your gallery this evening.
