Description
A few nights ago Uranus was very easy to find in the sky due to its proximity to Jupiter, which was the brightest thing in the sky at the time. This was about a 30 second exposure.
Jupiter was shining brightly at magnitude -2.74.
Uranus was glowing faintly at magnitude +5.74.
For reference here are some other magnitudes (brighter objects have lower numbers):
sun: -26.74
full moon: -12.74
Andromeda Galaxy: +3.44
See the wikipedia page on "apparent magnitude" for more info.

Inspirational shot! Some interesting celestial events coming up in 2013; hoping to image them myself once I get my head around astro-photography
