Description

Captured 7/31/10, at the American Civil War Reenactment, held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California. Better viewed full size. What everyone has been eagerly waiting for since I first posted this series; in fact, the very meat and potatoes of the event....the conflict itself. Pic #1 shows the confrontation beginning with a cavalry skirmish between the two sides, which really didn't last that long. I regret not having taken good closeup shots of that exchange. The other fotos show a line of Union soldiers walking across the field and taking up fighting positions. These weren't the only bluecoats involved, there were others behind this phalanx that will be shown as we get deeper into the conflict. The photo shoot was made somewhat difficult in that I had to elbow, crouch, squeeze and ninja my way back and forth along the the long tight line of spectators in order to get decent shots of the troops as they waged warfare. Certainly no way to make friends. Since I took 163 pics of the battle itself, I figure that even with posting collages of five fotos each, it'll take over a month just to show them all. To help prevent battle fatigue among the viewers, I'll toss in some other nonrelated stuff along the way....like auto shows! Okay, Andrea? Wonderful action shots; luckily for all the spectators it looks like it was a lot cleaner and less fraught with real casualties than the real thing! Excellent work.

I was going to go to a reinactment at Fort Washita, some @+%$#@ arsonist burnt down the main historical building. No dicision yet to rebuild or not that I've heard. Excellent captures and collage very nice work!

I love the Skirmishers....but i cant wait to see the lines of INFANTRY on the field!...lol...i used to love running across the field during a bayonet charge, or taking a "dramatic hit" in the middle of the field, its fun! Great shots boss!!

Superb action captures but it is amazing that they used to fight wars like this. It was no wonder they had huge casulties as those barriers didn't give much cover.
