Description
These are the fruits of one of my Pittosporum trees. I used to call them shrubs, but now well over 30 feet tall, shrubs just won't cover it! ^=^
The flowers are fairly insignificant, though they cover the trees from top to toe, and they do have rather a nice perfume, but only during the night. I now have a third self seeded shrub just two thirds of a metre tall which will soon have to be moved. I was actually told by the duchy garden centre that Pittosporum don't self seed. I am happy to say they were wrong! ^=^
I went to the beach earlier in the vain hope of wasp shooting...camera, not gun! Alas, not one was to be found. So either they are deeply ensconced inside their burrows alongside their eggs, or they've "been and gorn!" as some would say! It was mightily chilly last night, so I am hoping it is a case of the former. Not to be thwarted, I'll be down to the beach once more on the morrow! ^=^
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

Boy, do they self-seed! I have a veritable forest... I do love the smell too, I believe Annick Goutal has managed to make a perfume out of it. Autumnwatch tonight has an article on the Ivy bee I've been in such pursuit of. (sorry about the grammar!) Love this pic..they are such a great shape.

Wasp hunting! I'm a bit upset that the weather is changing here and that my beloved yellowjackets are at the ends of their spans. Well, the reproductive queens are around until next autumn, but the males are on their way out along with the stinging worker-daughters. It's quite sad as there will soon be no one around to steal my iced tea except for Corey, but Corey's more of a french fry thief than a tea-bandit so it's just not the same. As for this shot: I know next to nothing about those plant things except that they're kinda cute, and this is a gorgeous shot of something I wouldn't be able to identify without a plant-person around. I love the clarity and those dark seeds. Marvelous...simply gorgeous.
