Previous: Welcome to Skyland
My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

great dedication.. super art i hope all will be ok.. as time moves by.. we all fall victim to ill health enjoy good health as long as you can !!!! I am often in bed thinking.. I have no pain.. no pain at all.. by thinking of it.. you enjoy it even more and you will remember it when pain does come.. as it will with images like this.. one forgets all sadness for a moment -=- about my image.. she is being told by her soldier.. but she does not fear

you know, Craig, when I view images when I'm not commenting, I always look at the images, but sometimes rush through the texts (unless it's writing); and therefore can completely bypass words on an ill loved-one or one who has passed, etc. I'm so sorry I missed this message, and, though relieved, sorry I missed the follow up on the next image. I'm sorry your father-in-law had that operation, and that he's confined for a while; and I hope he will be back to normal soon. As for the image, you've always been excellent at getting light & definition in darker landscapes (knowing that you do lighter landscapes too). You don't shy away from shadow, as you articulate what's in it with real detail & expression. This is a mountain & valley scene in the shadow of a great cloud-cover; or perhaps in late day or early day, when the light can be intense in spots and dark in others. But inside the many shaded areas, you've articulated realistic roads, land patches, trees, leaves and even peaks. The Oriental painting masters would've approved of your handling of fog in peaks & the mystery of trees & land in shadow. It isn't a dark landscape, it's a full landscape that happens to be viewed in shadow; and it has a lot of love in it, as well as a dramatic detailed sky (which we seem to be viewing from an aerial location). A gentle vision for your father-in-law, and maybe the shade is just right, as one who's recovering doesn't want too much notice or bright light, metaphorically. Beautifully conceived...and again I wish the very best to your father-in-law, and hope he'll be healed very soon...
