Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wifeĆ¢ā¬ā¢s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update ĆĀ January 2012:ĆĀ After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with itsĆĀ advancement Ć¢ā¬ā I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems.ĆĀ I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books. ĆĀ Life marches on!ĆĀ ĆĀ ĆĀ

Very beautiful capture of the bridge! It and its ancestors have a pretty interesting history

WOW! Are you sure this isn't in Chicago? Well, okay, it isn't but that rust is so...well...1900! I recognize those particular x-braces as being of the period and the level of rust on the bridge itself kinda says that it's at least pushing 100 in bridge-dating terms. In short, there's a ton of detail and when zoomed, the details have details! WOW! And it's even cooler that you did that little Gypsy thing at the midway point! I giggled when I read that and as I'm helping Corey with stuff, I got an inquisitive look from him. Corey will probably comment a bit later. He's still getting his strength back and can't really exert himself with much more than watching DVDs and ambling to the back porch for fresh air, but he noticed this image and really likes the details. His exact words are as follows: "Wow! That's a pretty cool sky too!" So there you have it, an official proxy comment for Corey as well as extreme appreciation from me. This is a marvelous shot! Oh, and did I mention I like it? Great stuff and thank you for the dedication...it's quite an honor. Now I wanna see that bridge in person!

Great tribute for Chip. Alas, this is sight too often seen when it comes to the great engineering works of North America - neglect. What would Mr. Jackson have to say to us of how well the manifests of his gifts to us have been treated.

To my layman eyes it looks a tangled chaos of still, but I'm sure there is rhyme and reason to it's struckture, great texture and symmetry here a very interesting capture, zooming in really does show the wonderful detail!

Great composition and capture; there must have been one HUGE erector set somewhere given the number of this type of bridge out there!

Awesome is the word in this one, Dana! A geometric riot of massive Erector set type components, sharply silhouetted against the blue sky.

Thanks for sharing this old bridge. Not only chipka is a fan of these old constructions, me too. They have atmosphere, spirit, soul, I donĀ“t know better words. It burns my heart when I see, when some of the old constructions is teared down. We lose our history...
