Description

Another shot of the Jenny engine from the Flying Heritage Collection. For those of you who thought this plane might still be in flying condition ... you're right! Here's an excerpt from the Flying Heritage website about this particular plane: Airworthy Jennys are extremely rare and the aircraft in front of you is one of the finest examples in the world. It was manufactured in May, 1918 and entered military service the next month at March Field in Riverside, California. On May 6, 1919 this plane was sold back to Curtiss for reconditioning and civilian resale. For the next 75 years it was owned by several private individuals and featured in numerous film and television productions. This is for Rod ... may you remain in excellent flying condition for many years to come! Rock on, my friend!
Happy Birthday, Rod!

Sorry I don't comment on your work more often... no excuses, just time. :-) I love the zerk fittings as I appreciate the need and would like to have some installed on ME. Great photo.

Wow - what a beautiful shot, Tara! Yep - just because one is older, doesn't mean you can't get the ol' engine started and head for the clouds! Thank you so much for the wonderful birthday gift! I love it! Now, I've gotta go to work - what a bummer..... :-P hugs, Rod :-D

I can just imagine the clatter these make - a sound which lets the pilot know that all is okay. A very clever dedication, Clive

WOW! This is amazing! At first glance I thought it was something musical in nature: the Saxophone parts or something. I love the metal, the light (its dreamy) and again, it's a part of something that really gives a bit of insight into the whole, without ever once revealing the whole. This image is like good writing in that it allows a thing to unfold in easily-managed pieces. Our brains get to absorb the essential qualities of this flying contraption before being confronted with the flying contraption itself. For me, that's an extremely interesting, extremely brilliant thing; good visual art is like good writing, and good writing is like learning something new, but having that knowledge sneak up on you and sink in before you've had a chance to recoil and chafe...especially since aviation is something that a lot of people might not find "interesting." It's like a conversation I had with Corey. "Cars for me, are like toilets: vital to modern human life, but not something I'd form an emotional attachment to, no matter what they're made of or how they look. They're tools." Of course, that's all a matter of taste and preference, since woodlice are like well...bugs, in that they're little and easy to step on, but not necessarily something that would draw someone's attention as "fun" or even "valid." Again, bravo on a marvelous piece of work. It's an excellent birthday dedication as well.
