Description

The Frontier Class Corvette is the Earth Alliance planetary orbit based defensive platform. Here interplanetary range has been sacrificed for a heavy localized force denial capability – two modified deep range strike versions of this vehicle are other-classed in the Alliance fleet arsenal. The Frontier Class Corvette is designed for close in orbital operations and does not require the extensive on-board systems and resources to accommodate the crews need for rotational-induced gravity – primary tasking is restricted to seven day patrol rotational duty cycles. In addition to the on-board bunkered 200 Kingfisher missiles the Corvette supports four Lancer rail-gun turrets and CIWS (Close In Weapons Systems) controlled by a Generation 10 AN/SPY Sensor Array and multi-track targeting system capable engaging several hundred targets simultaneously. My designs reflect capability currently operational in real-world U.S. Naval vessels – design of the radar and sensor array is drawn directly from existing hardware and technology as are many of the weapons systems and capabilities. Lancer Rail Guns Fire Sabot Discarding Armor Piercing Munitions consisting of CH Nuclear Anti-Ship Round Bomb-Pumped Directed Plasma Lance (Delivers 5.0 x 10^15 Joules Thermal Point Energy on target). CIWS fires 1 oz tungsten-core depleted uranium slugs. Sustainable Rate of Fire: 4,000 rounds per minute/4 minutes.

That's some interesting work, very respectable and certainly plausible stuff. I like your ship design. The scariest thing whenever I think about combat in space is the really mind-blowing speed even inert objects are traveling, and the kind of damage they can do. Yikes! You've put together some fascinating stuff, here.

Nice ship identification plate. Very reminiscent of what you might expect to see in either a database or warbook - complete with breakdown of significant components/vital areas. I especially like the technical specifics and details about location of manufacture, date of construction, etc. It really shows that you have put a lot of background thought into not just your fictional universe and the plot specific elements, but the background details as a whole. I feel it is these types of details that help draw an audiance in and immerse them more fully into a storyline and helps make it feel more real. While I do see some familiar concepts in the plot synopsis, that seems inevitable, and will not make a snap comparison to other fictional works I am familiar with. Are these novels still in the writing, or have they been published already? If they are out, I would like to give them a look.

@ theKageRyu, Thank you for your comment and interest in my work. The Orion's Arm series is in production at this time. Due to the integrated nature of the individual works all three novels are being written simultaneously -- however a limited release of the introductory chapters in novella format is considered, I will keep those who are interested advised as this proceeds.

What can one say about your modeling and rendering that does not soud like hyperbole? It's not hyperbole though because it's true - another great well done, William :)
