Description
Alliance Planetary Defense Corvette
Shown here in low orbit above Mars. The Eos Chasma -- the eastern end of the vast Valles Marineris canyon system—is visible through the clouds. Note the engineering crew performing exterior maintenance for sense of scale.
Terraformed Mars created using MOC images of Eos Chasma mapped to a sphere, rendered in Bryce, then retouched and layered with ISS images of Earth in Photoshop. Photo credit NASA.

I really like the design, and sense of scale but I have a question, why do you have weapons on the ship? One: If we ever manage to get a ship that big to go to Mars I do not think that we will be wasting any space (weight) on any kind of weapons systems. Heck, we cannot even get back to the moon because the person currently in the Whitehouse does not want the USA to be exceptional at anything. He has already killed the Constellation program (which would of put the US back on the moon by 2020) and Two: there is no clear objective for NASA at this time or for the foreseeable future (which is truly sad). But, again I do not think that (Obama) wants the US to lead at anything. I am a big fan of your artwork and I really am impressed with your designs, I just do not get the weapons. In reality we will never see any kind of weapons ever placed on any spaceship from earth that would be traveling to any of the planets or its moons in our solar system. There is just no need, if we ever encountered any alien life i.e. (Spaceship) out there then most likely they would be quite advance in technology then our own and I doubt that they would be attacking us to begin with. Believe me I think your designs are great but the weapons.........? All the best, David

Way cool! You got to view it on full-size and check out the space walkers. Outstanding detail. I don't mind the weapons....I think they are cool. Perhaps this scene is from the distant future where we have run into hostile alien races that would love nothing better than to steal our natural resources and serve us up for dinner. A spaceship has got to protect itself. :^) Awesome scene. Thanks for sharing.

That's a cool model, and I'm especially impressed with the work you did on Mars in the background.

Another great model and render :)

A very nice alternative view of a corvette for science fiction. A bit of a mix of the more Star Warsian feel of ships, with some elements that are comonly seen on real Earth naval vessels and similarities to components on actual spacecraft (the solar panels and what I asume are the fuel pods). I do feel the radar and sensor dishes are over-simplified in comparison, and detract from the overall feel. The background you give sounds like it would be an interesting read. It has been a long time since I have read Science Fiction; I feel the sci-fi section of the bookstore has become too overrun with fantasy novels (I hate that they lump the two categories together) and too many Star Trek/Star Wars novels and clones there-of.

Hey David, In context of my future history the combat vehicle imaged sees action during the System States War, at around the +750 year mark on my future history timeline. Future History Timeline Context Link: Orion’s Arm Future History Timeline. Definition of System States War sides and allegiances: Consortium Moons The Consortium of Moons (commonly shortened to Consortium Moons) describes a constitutionally limited Republic among the moons of Saturn, comprised of independent space habitats, each being a city-state under individual self rule in terms of internal civil matters and acting in unison under specifically defined treaty agreement in regards to external security. System States The Consortium of Moons is a member of the System States which are a union of treaty in regards to policing and security of commerce and trade. Members of the System States are the Consortium Moons, the Jovan Association (which includes most large habitats in and among the asteroid belt – the exception being mining sites established by the Earth Alliance) and the Mars Republic. Mars Republic Mars Republic describes the constitutionally limited form of government established by the Martian settlers. Earth Alliance The Earth Alliance is a global socialist state established by force after hundreds of years of warring among the lesser criminal empires which in turn arose after the self-destruction of present day industrial/technological civilization at the hands of an intentionally fomented irrationality, mob tribalism, and predatory activism aimed to take down the bases of scientific industrial based commerce and trade – the end of present day civilization signaled an end of abundance and the dawn of a dark ages which extended over three-hundred years in duration. System States War The System States War describes a conflict between the System States and the Earth Alliance, precipitated by an incursion of Earth Alliance armed forces on Mars seizing by force territories on the surface of Mars and claiming these as a possession of Earth.
