Description

I've had an old M42 mount 55mm Super-Takumar knocking about for a while - adapted for the EOS, it's a bit of a pain, with manual focus and aperture. However, these same features make it nearly perfect for reverse-mount macro photography. One $7 adapter later, and I've got a 1:1 magnification macro lens! Here's a bug. On a leaf. Reverse mounted, the focus ring on this lens has no effect at all, so I had to chase this little guy about, but the results speak for themselves - for a 48 year old lens that's full of fungus and can be bought for about $10, it's pretty impressive. Many of those old lenses are very good! Sad to say, but many modern computer designed lenses are poorer. As for taking photos of subjects like this - somehow they DON'T seem to like being photographed - I wonder why? But I know birds get scared of cameras due to the color and the big, black lens which looks like an eye to them. This is a very good photo. Keep up the good work!
