UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

WHAT A SHOT!! Fabulous.

Welcome back, Bill! Nice to see you've been able to do some other things than preparing the house for sale. This is an amazing photo, with its off-center showing the layout of the architecture while at the same time showing the fantastic symmetry. Beautiful contrasts between the white walls, the different wood colors and the carpet. The lighting is very important here. Great job! :-)

Great shot, love the wood in this, fabulous!! Well captured Bill!!!

I love the way you've shown off the wood in this shot. That dark walnut is fantastic! I've seen Roy Underhill (PBS) do spindle turning with a foot-treadle lathe, and it's an amazing process. Knowing how they do it doesn't diminish my amazement at ALL those balusters! No wonder it took them two years to build the courthouse. Fantastic pov!

Welcome back Bill, you've been missed.Great image, I have a thing for spiral staircases and wood. You've got a double whammy here. There is nothing quite like aged Walnut. They must go through some beeswax here.

Lovely to have you back again, and what a marvellous capture of this staircase you have here. The wood looks fantastic and the angle you have taken this looks superb.

OMG, Bill! Cottonwood Falls! Fantastic shot of the stairs in that courthouse! I've been to that courthouse - we went there some years ago, when I was co-chairman of the old KC Metro Photographer's Assn. I still have videos somewhere of that trip. I'm pretty sure I have a shot of that staircase, but not this angle. Wonderful shot, Bill!

Egad, I thought at first it was an overhead shot of a baseball stadium at night! Wonderful clarity, detail and contrast in this pic, and welcome back from your odyssey.

Your 16 days away from your camera sure did not affect your artistic eye. This is a fantastic POV and super clarity. Wonderful capture. Dana

another way you & tara overlap, but the wonderful thing is how you both go about pattern & abstraction in wholly different ways. A shot of a spectacular staircase, yet it's got so many abstract elements of light, form, contour, etc, it almost shimmers forth as pure design. It does so both for its initial design but also because of your capture, pov, etc. When you wrote "Walnut" I really thought it meant the actual shape of the opening in the stairs (which resembles a shelled nut, in a way). The clarity of detail on the stairs below is beautiful, the contrasts between them and the white wall and the sheer paneled floor is beautiful, and the general sweep of the stairwell---including the pieces you show at the top---is dramatic. A beautiful sweeping shot, with hints of what we don't see, and a lot of movement in a very specified space. Terrific.
