Description

can't a couple of stick bugs have some privacy. The Phasmatodea (sometimes called Phasmida) are an order of insects, whose members are variously known as stick insects (in Europe and Australasia), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the United States and Canada), phasmids, ghost insects and leaf insects.Phasmids are herbivorous, feeding mostly on the leaves of trees and shrubs. The females, which are usually significantly larger than the males, lay their eggs individually, either sticking them to vegetation or simply depositing them on the ground. A single female may lay from 100 to 1,200 eggs after mating, depending on species. The eggs are typically camouflaged, resembling plant seeds, and may remain dormant for a full season or more before hatching. The nymphs are born already closely resembling the adults. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I seen more last Saturday than I have seen my entire life.they were in one place on Talimina Scenic Drive I dedicate this to MrsLubner and flora-crassella. thanks for your visit and any comments

This is some serious close up work Richard! Just as well you don't get hay fever! lol I would like a tripod for such a shot, but I bet you can stop your heart going to achieve the stillness required for such a shot! lol Steve :o)

Amazing capture Richard. I seriously doubt i would have noticed them there if i had seen them. Even knowing they are there, I have to look real close to not just see a few twigs. Thier natural camoflage is ideal. Great shot.

Great capture of these walking sticks! We have some in a "aquarium" at home in my childhood, they breed well - but one day they break out of their "home" and a morning, a loud scream from one of my sisters when she saw the "stick" walking on the edge of her coffee cup! Have a nice Monday! ;o)

Super capture of very curious insects.Your macros never cease to amaze me. I have been a long time fan of macro-photography.My dad was a photographer back in its early days and introduced me to macro work as it emerged, but never achieved anything on your level of skill. Excellence, Richard!!!!!
