Description

can't a couple of stick bugs have some privacy. The Phasmatodea (sometimes called Phasmida) are an order of insects, whose members are variously known as stick insects (in Europe and Australasia), walking sticks or stick-bugs (in the United States and Canada), phasmids, ghost insects and leaf insects.Phasmids are herbivorous, feeding mostly on the leaves of trees and shrubs. The females, which are usually significantly larger than the males, lay their eggs individually, either sticking them to vegetation or simply depositing them on the ground. A single female may lay from 100 to 1,200 eggs after mating, depending on species. The eggs are typically camouflaged, resembling plant seeds, and may remain dormant for a full season or more before hatching. The nymphs are born already closely resembling the adults. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I seen more last Saturday than I have seen my entire life.they were in one place on Talimina Scenic Drive I dedicate this to MrsLubner and flora-crassella. thanks for your visit and any comments

Amazing. We have these in classrooms at school and the kids love to collect leaves for them and spray them with mist.

Excellent capture! Aren't they so strange, I had one on one of my plants and at night thought it was a stick hanging on the flower. When I went to knock it off, it swatted me with one of it's front legs. I got some pictures. :)

I'm so sorry I am late finding this. I am embarrassed but more than that, I am enthralled. Stick bugs were one of those things I found only every once in a while as a kid and they were always the best thing I could find on the screen door. These are fabulous. To find three in one spot is unheard of. Excellent detail and it takes me down memory lane. Thank you so much!
