My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

A lovely shot but I have to admit that I have missed the shots of your neighbor and his Halloween decorations this year. Maybe next year.

Beautiful photo, Tara! The two main things I remember about Cottonwood Falls are the courthouse, and the heads of the trophy catfish caught in the river. They used to hang those on a wire down near the falls. Made for an interesting, if slightly bizaare display.

I can just see this - thankfully claim was settled at the last minute last week so I did not have to see the inside of that courthouse! Great mood your image creates, Clive

What a shot. Just look at that wood! That sheen! Those colors! WOW! Okay, Jury chair and anything jury related makes me want to scramble for a doctor's note just to get out of dealing with it, but beyond that, this is quite a stellar shot. I love the richness of it, the sense of place, and the implied stories. What would these chairs tell us if they could speak? Marvelous. And the idea of being in an old courthouse, WOW! It's like old school houses, or log cabins or something left over from the days when this country had such a history ahead of it, such potential. Things weren't necessarily better way back when, in fact things were a lot worse in many ways, but there seems to be a sense that the ability to look ahead hadn't been lost and images like this are a reminder of that "openness" for lack of a better word. This is marvelous work. Quite stunning in those ways that are totally subtle and elegant.

the light on the wood, the reflections as well as the overall sheen, is beautiful tara; you've captured the sweep and contour of these beautiful chairs. And you've captured the music of how they mingle, arm to arm, back against back, etc. Though there's a lighter colored wall behind, the shot is a symphony of rich browns & dark ambers, and the blue highlights on the arms only accentuates the deep browns, making this a rich & warm capture. I'm glad that as you were doing all you were doing out there, you found these places to shoot. A very warm & undulating shot, esp when you consider they're big hard wooden chairs! Without those cushions, I don't know how comfortable they'd be. But then maybe they didn't want jury members to be too comfortable, I don't know...Sensitive, fine work Tara.

Beautiful capture of the wood grain. The patterns of the two chairs that have less contrast, are gorgeous in zoom. Excellent composition and light!
