Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

So beautiful! If it is snowing already where you live, you have my sympathy, but then again, it IS very lovely snow!

You are right. This couldn't be better. Stellar beauty. You have done a gorgeous photograph.

Nice photo. Would probably benefit from a bit of sharpen filter in a paint application though.

Gorgeous tree and beautiful capture! The black and white shows the dramatic shape and lighting off perfectly. It is quite refreshing to look at this image, as our high was 87F today. Welcome to renderosity!

As much as I love color photography, I have to say that black and white is far more emotionally involving. I mean, you only have an image and its mood without all of those pesky colors getting in the way, all vying for your attention. Well...that's how I see it at times, despite the fact that I love a good color photograph. Black and White grabs you more and actually demands more of an emotional interaction. This is the perfect example of that. It's a fantastic winter shot, and the whole monochrome quality really drives home either the bleakness of winter, or the "patience" of trees devoid of their warm weather foliage. This is a really fantastic shot.

Very pretty~

All these tiny white lines of snow. The Black&White is the right choice in these circumstances; there won't be much color at all. And even if there would be colors, they are always distracting from your composition, the lighting etc.

This is very nice. It has that "you are there" immediacy of trudging through knee-deep snow with your parka on, trying to keep the camera from getting wet. I love the lighting, and the overall feel of the picture. It's really quite beautiful. Again, welcome to Renderosity, and congratulations on making a nice splash in the photography gallery. A lot of cool people post here. I like this picture a lot. The thumbnail really drew me in and seeing it full sized was even better.

A really lovely shot Kate. Haven't been on for a few days - computer crashed and had to take it to the PC Doctor. Still not up and running yet!

well you already got praise from one of the Forum leaders (MrsLubner), and you posted a very fine B&W with, as Tara said, beautiful contrasts. I can see a hint of highrises back there---which is nice---and your whites & grays are quite luminous. And the atomized feeling of the branches in the background give it a feeling of a real winter scene, almost as if it's still snowing...Re. Chip's comment on B&W, it really brings photography down to essences, the way ink drawing does next to painting. Like a solo guitar as opposed to a large band. It's more intimate, and considering that photography was nothing 'but' for so long, there's a huge tradition to fall back on. I hope you continue to pursue it as you continue your work. Another fine post from you.
