Description

Traveling up I-5 I just had to stop and take a picture of Mount Shasta. I pulled off into the breakdown lane of the highway and grabbed a few shots. As I drove off a Highway Patrol cruiser roared up and stopped in the spot I had just vacated. Was he checking for a disabled car or looking for someone illegally parked at the side of the road? Either way I was very happy not to make his acquaintance.

Oh my, that is a breathtaking view of that mountain, reminiscent in a small way of Mt. Fuji in Japan - the whole panoramic sight is just intoxicating ... (I wonder how high that peak would be? - I know I should google that) Simply marvellous capture, BB

I often find mountains depressing for some reason, but because this lovely shot has the warm colours in the foreground it has no such effect. Maybe the officer merely needed to deal with a itch inside his boots...

Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta are our best known volcanoes. Shasta last erupted 200 years ago. It's a beautiful place and I've fished in the lake there before. I owned 3 acres in the north valley foothills and from my front yard I have a view of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. This is a wonderful shot. So peaceful with the rolling hills leading up to it. BTW, you do seem to attract the authorities, don't you. LOL
