Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

The silhouetting against the bright yellow sun and orange/red blending is fabulous, M. And I like the crop.

LOL @ sharky: a final set indeed! What a shot! This is nicely intense and somewhat lonely too...but seeing volleyball nets with no volleyball players is always somewhat lonely and moody. This is so well seen, so well captured too, and I agree that the crop is marvelous. Great color: intense but soothing at the same time. Yeah, I like this a lot!

(my grandfather would say, "so where's the game???" Lol...) Another in the category of "if ever there was a marilyn shot..." There are many 'marilyn shots,' but this one would never be in question. It's a simple net with a setting sun, but that sun is blasting right through it like a beacon from the cosmos. It shouts "end of day," the oranges are sumptuous, and it's oh-so-simple---a net, the ground, a second ground-line (the lighter line above the ground), the hills in the background, and just the cosmos. And the net is uneven & ornery, so it's got character & isn't going silent 'into that good night'...Beautiful, marilyn. You know how much I'm loving this whole SCal batch...I just pick them at random, when I get here. I like the crop too (w/ harry), and the fact that you let the sun be off-center. (I find myself centering the sun too much, and this gives me permission to shout, "stay where you are, ya little orb!" Lotta character in this. Love it.
