What an unusual capture. Such a powerful sky with the waves dancing before the wind. Is that a reflection of a wall in the foreground?

Thanks for asking, Sandy. The structure at bottom is the pier...

Piers, water, waves--doesn't get much better than that in my world!! Everything about this shot just rocks, the light, the sparkle, the very dynamic of the wave. Perfect!!

I love how you have caught this wave just as it rises to catch the sun, it looks wonderful with its lacy edgeing. A superb capture and a great study of light and shade. Well worth getting up early to catch this beauty.

Ultra stellar DOF, lighting and stark contrast in this capture of just one portion of Lake Michigan, Mark! It even evokes a sense of tidal action.

There is really such strength and motion in this amazing photo, and it reinforces the power of nature, showing a force and beauty that is quite awe inspiring. There is a sensuality in the undulating dark waves, and a mystery of what lies beneath. CC

I can hear these waves smashing into the pier. I can feel the humid air and I can almost feel a shower coming :-D What a wonderful Capture with all the reflections. You even captured the sunbursts. Awesome, Mark.

Amazing capture here Mark, and as pointed out it was even better in full size view. First of all let me say that the quality here is second to none, and this image looks like one you'd expect to see used in a ad or on a poster. This really is breathtaking and gives one a hint at just how beautiful the waves there can be. The light shimmering in the background really made this one complete for me.

It feels as though I am sitting on a boat in the middle of the choppy ocean, it is a remarkable photo, showing your artisic eye as always. Your photography is superb, and I fully enjoyed my re-visit to your wonderful gallery, hope all goes well with your next health check, hugs Jane xx

So cool:) This inspiring photo makes me think of Charlie Chaplin's last silent-film, 'Modern Times'. The pier in the foreground reminds me of huge gear teeth with the Little Tramp (the wave) fighting for his survival against machines (in his case, talkies). Your photo even has a hint of B&W. Just maybe, a fight against mechanization isn't too far from the way some Chicagoins have felt over the past 150 years with the advent of urbanization, railroads, elevated trains, skyscrapers, automobiles, etc., etc. Great photo my friend. Pardon the wierd connection made by me this a.m., ...something I ate maybe. Lol. P.S. I really like this photo! Sorry Mark...had to put this one up twice...hate misspelling a word...what would my sophomore English teacher think?

I love the gorgeous, delicate lavender hues ... the range from white to deep, deep ... is it indigo? Purple? Navy? The color shifts even as I look at it, and I can't put my finger on it. Visually, that gives the same feeling as waves, putting my brain in a bit of a slosh. It brings me IN to the picture, makes me become part of it. Wonderful!

an amazing work of art, Mark! I don't know why it reminds me of Anglo-Saxon sagas about sea horses and ships, maybe because we call it 'cavallone' that is Big Horse in Italian. Possibly we have the same association of ideas as the Anglo-Saxon and Viking warlords. The light is almost supernatural, and the slant you give to the image is intriguing!

Yup ! The pivotal moment when the tide ceases to go out and starts to come in. Same as in when we are at crossroads of life, That pivotal moment! Well done! The lighting crew knows exactly where to put light :-)

Another exquisite example of your ability to capture shifting forms, and especially shifting light. How you manage to get nature to pose so beautifully for your camera is beyond me. I love this, but I'd also be intrigued to see it given your unique Photoshop treatment...

this has to be another morning shot! I was going to ask about that structure in the front too, but someone beat me to it, and you've already answered. Now way up near the left top, is that a ship? I love the way sun just blows across the waters .. the colors .. the lights .. it's all so ethereal.
