Welcome to my homepage!
I am new to this whole homepage / website thing. I love photography but am a novice with that too! My brother and friend post on here regularly and I was curious so got on and really like what I see so I figured I would give it a try.
I really enjoy nature photography especially macrophotography. I usually use a 35 mm camera using slide or print film but have switched into the digital because it's great for the environment and it its much more flexible. The most beautiful things in life to me are the most simple and often overlooked.
I have always been the black sheep (non-artist) in a family of very talented artists. I would love to connect with other folks who are interested in nature photography.Â
Peace, KateÂ

I have no idea, but for some reason I thought of the character "Gran," from Absolutely Fabulous when I saw this picture. Just imagine, an older English woman declaring: "Oh, I say.... Is it a Vivienne Westwood?" Well...that's what went thorough my mind when I saw this, so I'll ask...IS it a Vivienne Westwood creation? Probably not since she doesn't do flowers...at least not that I know of. Marvelous shot. I love the soft colors and the distinct shape. I really have no idea what this is but it's quite a lovely floral specimen. Does it have a smell too? I suspect it's probably tulip-like, all visual beauty and no scent. Flowers are like that sometimes, which is a part of what makes them so interesting. This is great. I like it quite a lot.

Thank you for all your very nice comments. I am not sure what kind of flower this is - I am terrible with knowing what things are called but they sure were beautiful. I'm sorry I don't remember the smell Chip, problaby something flowery - ha! :)

A rare specimen, good shot.

It does look like amaryllis. Multiple flowers on one thick stalk? Whatever it is, it's just beautiful.

This is great!I love all the different colors in it: the red, the white, the green. I also love those pistol/stamen whatever they're called doohiggys. This is a very intimate shot and i can almost smell it!

I remember Absolutely Fabulous (chip), but don't remember Gran, lol. But this flower does have a pomp about it. Nice focus---strong but still a soft (not doused in ultra sharpening which can sometimes undo a flower). And a nice composition with the flower opening up into two nearly symmetrical "welcomes". And really nice capture of the white in the center with the stamens bowing out of it. (There's a flower part i know, lol.) Another fine nature capture from you, Kate, and it's reminding me that I have to take my camera to the Bot. Gardens---I never have. It's a really big place, and your shots are making me realize what a fine place it must be for photography.
