Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Very nice. I watched a motorcyclist get killed in front of my eyes 5 years ago and love the fact that his roadside shrine is still very much 'active'. He died instantly. I've always pondered leaving the family a message saying that he didn't suffer, but I've yet to leave anything. Do gooders over here are mounting the case that they should be illegal as they are a distraction to drivers. What they do for me is remind me to concentrate.

I does make you think about the frailty of life. The trouble with our roadside shrines is that folk leave the plastic on the flowers and the shrine just becomes litter.

life...so easily taken away.....

Poignant capture. Apparently, this is sad testimony to the danger of surfing the ocean waves off of Huntington Beach, M. And I'm still laughing over your Ruby's second floor photo incident.

Wonderful capture and a sad thing to see. I do a lot of driving and see these memorials along the side of the highways. The chap stick idea was cool as is the teddy bear. I stop at the Vietnam Wall, to touch my friend Jeff's name, each time I drive through Washington, DC. Every trip amazes me to see the things that are left along the bottom of the wall. Dana

These things are comforting in an odd sort of way. Interesting phenomena...
